Introduction
Cameras for hundreds of years have allowed people to see things far beyond their regular eye sight. Before cameras, people could not see things beyond their own sight with cameras people could see other people, places and things in distant areas. Now people could see pictures from different places, years, and things. Now because of the camera peeple could look at a photo of their great-great grandfather from the 1850's. Photos and cameras can show family and regular history. They can be used for investigation and many more uses, Cameras are very important, think about what it would be like without them.
History of the camera
Throughout the course of history people have always wanted to literally capture the moment. Untill the invention of the camera people have not been able to do so. Alhazen, the inventer of the first camera, was born the year 965 in Basrah, current day Iraq. Although he was the inventor of the pinhole camera, the first photograph was printed in 1827 by a man named Joseph Nicephore. Before the first photo, people used cameras for viewing images on the camera, not for printing them out for photos. Cameras have been advancing from digital cameras to ipod cameras.
Early cameras
The modern day camera was invented in 1827 by Joseph NicephoreNiepce. He printed the first photograph with his camera. As technology grew so did cameras. In the early 1900s, cameras were very popular. Also in 1880 George Eastman patented the Kodak camera. His company made film and printed photos. Without Joseph Nicephoreis invention we would not have the camera that we know today
19th century cameras In the 19th century cameras were just beginning and they were not used by many people until George Eastman’s invention of the Kodak camera. The company printed photos, made film and sold them to the public. Not until the 20th century did cameras make big improvements.
20th century cameras
¨George Eastman House cameras were the most popular in the 20th century
He was the owner of Kodak, which still exists today
Many other inventions helped cameras grow in the 20th century
Example: Air conditioning was invented and helped store pictures better
21st century cameras
The camera has a huge impact on our lives today. With socail medias such as facebook, tumblr, intsagram, twitter, myspace, pinterest, and more our generation is all about pictures and videos. Mozi the orginal creator of the very first camera could not have imagined how crucal and widely used the camera is now. Over these 200 hundred years since the camera was first invented many changes have occurred, such as remaking the lense, removing red eyes, digitally uploading photos to phones, computers, and socail networks, video chatting and more. People can mobilly upload photos for others to see in seconds. Pictures is one of the major ways we communicate nowadays. The first camera was wooden and hard to handle, even the first camera phone seems outdated. Taking photos is a hobby but it is also a way to remeber moments in our lives.
It advantages and disadvantages
There are ups and downs to modern cameras.
Advantages of digital cameras:
Film proceesing- no more do you have to wait for your picture to be proceed at the store while you wait. you can plug you camera into the computer and print them in the comfort of your own home
Photo storage- digital cameras have a larger photo storage then disposible cameras
Delay- in disposible cameras, there is a delay between clicking and when the picture is acually taken
Preview- you can preview the images before you print them, so you don't print picures you don't like
Video- on a number of digital cameras, you have the option to record video as well as take pictures
Disadvantages of digital cameras:
Duribility- most disposible cameras are more durible then the magority digital cameras due to the electronic parts
Battery consumption- disposible cameras do not requier batteries where as digital camers do
Complexity- disposible cameras have very simply instructions, point and shoot, digital cameras have more complicated instructions
How they work
The camera works by light reflecting off the object being photographed then this light comes back to the object being photographed in all different directions and it hits the lens from different angles. The lens focuses these rays of light to a point behind the focal point forming an image. The film is placed at the point where the image is projected to. The shutter temporarily moves from in front of the film and allows light to hit the film. Light then hits the film causing chemical reactions which exposes the film. The shutter then closes, and finally the film is advanced so an unexposed piece of film is ready for the next picture.
